Our SEND Musical Theatre Day is a fantastic opportunity for young people with SEND to try their hand at singing, acting and performing. There will be a workshop from 10am-4pm and the day will end with a short performance for friends and family. The day will be led by Ceri Graves, an experienced Performing Arts practitioner specialising in working with people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Places are strictly limited, so please apply early to avoid disappointment. Applications close on Friday 22 November (but may be closed earlier if all places are filled)

Who can join in? This event is open to any young person with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who is Year 6 or above and in Education. We welcome applications from people living in any area but if the event is over subscribed priority will be given to children living in Derbyshire. Due to the nature of the event and the staffing levels required, we will not be able to provide 1:1 care for any child and in particular we will not be able to assist with toileting or administer medication. Children who need help with these matters are welcome to apply but would need a parent or carer to stay throughout.
Where? Fairfield Junior School, Buxton
When? Saturday 30 November 2024. 10am-4pm
What does it cost? £20 per participant (towards the cost of running the event). Anyone who would like to attend but may struggle to afford this can apply for a Bursary (see below)
What to bring- Participants should bring a packed lunch plus any snacks and drinks that they may want for break times. Participants should wear loose fitting clothing that is comfortable to move around in
How to apply- If your child would like to take part please complete the online application form here. Applications are expected to close on Friday 22 November 2024, but may be closed earlier if all places are filled. Priority will be given to children living in Derbyshire, but other than that will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis so if your child would like to come along please apply as soon as possible.
How will I know if my child has a place? We will contact you within a week to confirm that we have received your application and with an update on whether you have a place. If you have not heard from us within a week please contact admin@pdmc.org.uk

Ceri Graves is an experienced and enthusiastic performing arts practitioner, specialising in working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. She was Co-ordinator of Performing Arts in an SEND secondary school for 10 years, as well as having years of industry experience as an award-winning Musical Director. She is qualified to teach Arts Award qualifications and holds a PGCE in Secondary Music as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in ‘Inclusive Education and Special Educational Needs’. At Peak District Music Centres we are committed to ensuring that no child misses out on musical opportunities due to family finances. Through our Bursary Scheme we can offer help with the cost of this event, subject to individual circumstances. You do not need to qualify for Government benefits to apply for a Bursary; each application is considered on it's merits. However, the process will be quicker for children who qualify for Free School Meals (other than universal infant free school meals).
